The most elite group of law enforcement is by far the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The DEA, CIA or any other organization could never be as elite as the FBI and it is nothing short of an honor to make it to their very extensive training program.
New Agent training takes place in Virginia and consists of seventeen weeks of instruction. Three focused areas are studied extensively including administrative, non-investigative and investigative components of training. Over six hundred hours of study will be realized by the time the agent completes the seventeen weeks of training. Academics, firearms, operational skills and integrated case scenarios will be the focus of the attention in classroom environments as well as in the non-conventional settings.
Nine very difficult tests which the trainee for the FBI must pass with at least a 85% test score or better will cover forensics, legal, behavioral science, interviewing, ethics, and basic and advanced investigative and interrogation techniques. A physical training test will be applied and applicants must pass the physical tests with flying colors. Defensive tactics are taught and applicants must be very comfortable following what they learn and be able to excel in what they learn.
FBI applicants are not your average law enforcement agents, they are some of the most intelligent individuals you will ever meet. They are highly skilled and very sharp on their feet with great instincts. These individuals know what they want from a very young age because they prepare mentally for the day that the FBI comes calling and they are ready.
The FBI will only choose the best upon graduation to join them. The applicant must successfully complete the training but more importantly, they must adhere to and believe in the core values of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Those values are values for which America was founded.
The agents of the FBI must readily obey the Constitution of the United States of America, respect the dignity of everyone they claim to protect, offer compassion and fairness, and vow to be uncompromising of personal integrity as well as the integrity of the institution of the FBI. The FBI does demand a lot from its agents but keep in mind, most people who make it out of the FBI Training are demanding of themselves which is all the more reason why the FBI recognizes excellence and settles for nothing less from all its agents.
